A little plug about basketball talent here in Siouxland. Of course most know about Kirk Hinrich who is with the Chicago Bulls who is from Sioux City West. Ben Jacobson who is currently a star at Northern Iowa is on many preseason All-star lists and is from Sioux City East. The below-to-referred Nate Funk is from Sioux City Heelan. Also I am sure everyone knows the legacy of South Sioux City girls basketball. It is strange to most from other parts of the country to learn that Siouxland is a relative hotbed of basketball talent.

Probably the less said about this one, the better. At least early on this
season, NU is showing the tendancy to play up-and-down, depending upon their
competition. Up 17 at one point in the second half, couldn't put away this
team that wasn't very good.

Grand Island's Wes Wilkinson continues to play well. Unofficially, 17
points and 10 rebounds. He's averaging around 15 and 8 so far.

This was a definite "tweener" game ... located on the schedule between UAB
and Creighton. Next up is the Creighton Bluejays on Sunday at the Qwest
Center (1 p.m. tip off - televised on Nebraska Educational Television).
Creighton's star, potential NBA-er Nate Funk is still out with an injury. He won't
play against NU. Despite the way NU has played this year (up and down
inconsistency), if they win against Creighton, they'll be right on schedule. With
Funk out, it'll be a big disappointment if they don't.
