[Husker] Barnett contract

The story on ESPN almost suggests that a cash strapped CU's initial goal was
to extend Barnett's contract without having to pay the $2 million 'retention'
bonus. Now it sounds like it would like cost them $2 million or more just
to buy him out. (However, I have always felt it is easy to raise funds
to buy out a coach, if that's what people really want.)

It would be rather ironic if UNL's thumping of CU precipitated Barnett's
firing, given that CU's thumping of Nebraska was seen by many as the
beginning of the end for Frank Solich.

I don't know if Mizzou would go for Barnett (an alum), he kind of burned
some bridges there when he was still at Northwestern.

Maybe Gary can get a job as a head coach in the MAC and he and Frank
can go head-to-head on an annual basis again. Somehow I doubt Colorado
fans would buy MAC school season tickets like Nebraska/Solich fans did.
