[Husker] Volleyball Team Advances

Good Evening:

The Nebraska volleyball team eliminated Duke tonight in Lincoln 30-19, 30-19 and 30-20 advancing to the Regional Finals next weekend in Omaha. 

Nebraska will take on the winner of tonight's UCLA/San Diego match at 7:00 PM on Friday at the Qwest Center. The winner of that match will then face the winner of the Florida/Louisville match on Saturday at 5:00 PM in Omaha for the right to advance to the Final Four in San Antonio. 

The 2006 Volleyball Final Four will be held here in Omaha, the regional next week is just a practice run for what should be an outstanding volleyball weekend in December 2006. Behind the scene efforts are currently underway to try and get the NCAA to make Omaha the permanent (annual) host for the volleyball Final Four like the CWS.  With over 11,000 tickets having been sold for next weekend's Regional Final in Omaha, and the promise to "fill the house" with around 15,000 spectators next year it would be a great accomplishment to pull off for Omaha.
