Jeff, I don't understand why you and others want to 'yank the chain' of
those who still support Solich in whatever endeavor he chooses. This is
really asinine at best. I look at it as the same way I look at it with
Barry Alvarez, a former Husker player who I wish good things for. If
rooting for former Huskers who are coaches now is wrong, then I guess I
don't want to be right!
Then we have your statement that 'how the game was played' isn't as much
as winning the game. Funny, seeing as Osborne said one of his proudest
and most accomplished games wasn't a win but the loss to FSU in the '94
Orange Bowl. He was proudest of this game because the Huskers played up
to their complete potential. Even as my friends cried because we lost I
told them I would hold my head up high on this one since it was supposed
to be a massacre for FSU. Also, almost all teams I have seen do play to
win but see something good in a loss like Osborne in '94. This is more
of an attitude of a winner than a loser as you surmise!
Next we have Jeff bashing Solich for inheriting Osborne's players. With
that statement I hope Jeff will now blame Osborne for the 7-7 season in
'98 since they were HIS players as Jeff insinuates. You cannot pick and
choose!
Finally, you take offense at being labeled one with a perverted attitude
then go on to insult those on the list who care about Solich as one of
Pavlov's dogs. I think the comedy lies there than with anyone who
doesn't agree with you about Solich.
Sean

>I'm not sure what motivates Jeff to denigrate Solich.
The only real motivation is to yank the chains of the people on the list
who just can't let go. Ring bell...dogs drool. Mostly it is just for my
amusement. I have said repeatedly that I thought Solich did a good job,
but since I also beleive that maybe it was time for a change that gets
lost in there somewhere.
>I guess it isn't enough that Solich has one of the best coaching
records

>even "played the game".
Not playing to win the game is basically the attitude of a loser. Show
me someone who is more interested in "how the game was played" or
"having fun" and you are showing me someone who 9 times out of 10 is
used to, and accepts losing as a standard.
>I guess Jeff would have been one of those for whom Osborne didn't
measure up >for more than 20 years. Then, I guess, by Jeff's standard,
all at once Osborne >was justified. And, no Jeff, winning the national
championship (such that it >is)is not "why they play the games".
Acutally no, Tom Osborne is a coaching legend and a coach who has one of
the best winning percentages of ALL-TIME, not just 5 seasons (several
with an inherited team). Further, all of the people who rush to proclaim
anyone who didn't support Solich in the end as someone who obviously
didn't support Osborne either are grasping at straws at best. The
college football landscape is entirely different now than it was in the
70s or 80s so the comparisons aren't really even remotely valid.
>You have a perverted attitude.
Your personal attacks on anyone who has a contrary opinion are almost as
comical as how easily you can can be goaded into issuing them.
I just heard the bell again...so you can start drooling Steve.
Have a great evening!
