>I'm not sure what motivates Jeff to denigrate Solich.

The only real motivation is to yank the chains of the people on the list who just can't let go. Ring bell...dogs drool. Mostly it is just for my amusement. I have said repeatedly that I thought Solich did a good job, but since I also beleive that maybe it was time for a change that gets lost in there somewhere.

>I guess it isn't enough that Solich has one of the best coaching records

>standard, unless you win that game, you might as well not have
>even "played the game".

Not playing to win the game is basically the attitude of a loser. Show me someone who is more interested in "how the game was played" or "having fun" and you are showing me someone who 9 times out of 10 is used to, and accepts losing as a standard.

>I guess Jeff would have been one of those for whom Osborne didn't measure up >for more than 20 years. Then, I guess, by Jeff's standard, all at once Osborne >was justified. And, no Jeff, winning the national championship (such that it >is)is not "why they play the games".

Acutally no, Tom Osborne is a coaching legend and a coach who has one of the best winning percentages of ALL-TIME, not just 5 seasons (several with an inherited team). Further, all of the people who rush to proclaim anyone who didn't support Solich in the end as someone who obviously didn't support Osborne either are grasping at straws at best. The college football landscape is entirely different now than it was in the 70s or 80s so the comparisons aren't really even remotely valid.

>You have a perverted attitude.

Your personal attacks on anyone who has a contrary opinion are almost as comical as how easily you can can be goaded into issuing them.

I just heard the bell again...so you can start drooling Steve.

Have a great evening!
