Not having read the article in question, does this kid really say this? I can tell you as someone who is very familiar with the intricacies of the offensive line, this would be unacceptable, although I suppose it is admirable the kid is trying. This would be similar to a player lacking the physical development to carry out a block (ie. someone who was not strong enough to get the job done) admitting that they could not block an opponent. They would most likely not see very much playing time. It is unfortunate this seems due to an injury. And falling into other linemen does in fact occur quite often, and is the reason I myself had to quit.

Sorry, what I meant when I wrote 'that was last season' was directed at
Austin not Christensen. After reading the article Austin is definitely
gutting it out. About my only concern is the fact that he admits that if
it looks like someone may fall into his knee he will back off from his
block. Hopefully, that doesn't occur often because his hesitation could
actually injure another teammate.

Christensen had surgery yesterday.
As far as Austin is concerned, any snaps he plays will be on sheer guts.
Someone who knows him says he can barely walk. Between series last year
he
rode a stationary bike on the sidelines to keep his knee loose. It
sounds
like the other players respect his dedication.

According to the Weird herald, that was last season. From what the
article mentioned he must be healthy because they have him ready in case
Mann goes down at center. If this is true, then I highly doubt that
Austin is only good for 25 snaps. His long term prognosis for his knees
isn't good (arthritis) but he says he feels good and the knee is just
fine. If we want any kind of success, we need the line to be
semi-dominant.
