[Husker] Excited about the Huskers?

I assume that when you say that you would "gladly
accept them" you mean you would "gladly reimburse you
for them".

I do think there is a perspective difference between
the Husker fans from afar and those of us closer to
home. Outstaters jump for joy whenever they see a
sign of the "Big Red" far from home. I was reminded
of this phenomonon this weekend while attending the
Chiefs-Cardinals preseason game. During pre-game
introductions of the Cardinals, every player was
booed, though the booing lessened and several cheers
broke out when the "tight end from Nebraska, Aaron
Golliday" was announced, as Husker fans in the crowd
gave him a cheer.

This is not a Nebraska phenomonon either. A fan in
the parking lot saw my "Ohio Bobcats" emblem (in
support of Coach Solich) next to my Husker plates and
cheered "Go Bobcats!" to me, stunned to see any sign
of her school in Kansas City.

During the Colorado game last season, I was talking to
an elderly fan behind us, and we agreed that "they
aren't going to get rid of us this easily!" We may
not approve of what happened in 2004, we may be
disappointed in what happened, and we may fear what is
coming up next, but we'll continue to support our
players like we always have. We may not be happy fans,
but we're still fans.
