And my constant reply to this point has always been why didn't the
coaches bench the 'seniors' who weren't buying into the system? I think
we all can agree that a less talented player playing as the coaches
would like is going to be better than a great player trying to do things
his own way. Until I can get a good answer for this question I will
continue to ask it whenever this point is brought up. In fact I add this
to the overall awful performance by the coaching staff last year (minus
Wagner who I thought did an incredible job with the O-line). Some of the
things they did made absolutely no sense.

Not that this hasn't been beaten to death, but I agree the talent
level was 'down' but not gone.
But I don't think that was the WORST problem we saw last year. The
worst problem was seniors who wouldn't let go of ties to the OLD staff
and refused to support the new staff. Talent or otherwise, u hear
coaches constantly talking about the most important thing is that
their players 'BUY' into the system.
A few cancers in the system, especially among seniors and destroy even
the best laid gamplans.
Just my thoughts and the 'sense' I got from this year's team. I don't
have an hard evidence to support this.
