Dear Jay,
Fear not. The option is definitely not dead. Just look at the shift in the
NFL to more mobile quarterbacks and an emphasis on running the ball. It's
only a matter of time. Sooner or later, some "genius" like Bob stoops who
plans to stay in college football will see that all the other teams are
throwing the ball all over the place and maybe he could throw defenses a
curve by running a little option. What a great success it will be and he
will be hailed by CBS as a genius for trying something new. After all, Bob
Stoops can do no wrong.... just ask all the experts.
After getting nailed by OU's option for several years in a row, Joe Glenn,
the new Nebraska coach from Wyoming will decide to start looking for a
mobile running QB.... and the rest is history... or rather futurity. Trust
me... History really does repeat itself.
Keep the faith.
GBR
Mike
