I wish Joe the best wherever he goes. IMO, he did his best, and apparently,
his best wasn't enough. He was a good sport and displayed good character
during what must have been a difficult season. He didn't complain, nor did
he leave school at any time during the season. he leaves now because he
knows he doesn't have a shot at starting. perhaps it would be best if he
went somewhere to pursue his dream. no problem with that. I know last season
was difficult and depressing for me (and the rest of us), but I never got
down on the Huskers, because I knew that this was the price of
change...hopefully change for the better. Time will tell.

I notice alot of negativity towards Dailey on the list. In fact, there is
alot of negativity in general. I remember the days when most listers
actually provided a balanced argument for why they thought something was
true. It was rare that a lister would post a comment that was just
unnecessary.

Not only has the Husker program changed, but it seems like some of the fan
base has changed also. Husker fans, largely, are still highly respectable,
knowledgeable and fair minded folks. But it seems like, as time goes on, we
have some fans that just have to be nasty for the sake of hearing themselves
heard on a big time list like this one. This is something we might be
accustomed to with fans of other teams, notably any team from Florida (I
live in ACC country, so I know of this firsthand). Let's get back to who we
truly are!

Also, I think we should try to understand how the greatness of past Husker
teams was reached. Many of us fans became spoiled by the recruiting
successes of one Tom Osborne. It seemed like everything he did turned into
gold. His game planning and preparation were unparalleled. His gambles
sometimes did not pay off, but eventually his hard work paid off. But i'm
sure there were plenty of things he did that people didn't agree with or
didn't like. In the end, his character and personality is what still
resonates with us all. And we are all better off because of it.

I'm not sure the Husker program will ever have that level of traditional
pre-eminence like it had in years of old. We live in a time where things
move fast, and the only thing that is constant is change, to quote someone.
Parity is the rule rather than the exception. And this is good. Coaches come
and go. College football players transfer more often like they are
professional free agents. This is just the nature of big time college
athletics. So the task is harder now than it has ever been.

So with this change, the option had to go. We had to embrace something new
and competitive. But the one thing that remains, is the fact that fans,
recruits and analysts, still expect Nebraska to have a winning program. And
a winning program is built on great recruiting and a winning philosophy.
Getting the top recruits works hand in hand with having an effective game
plan.

So whoever the QB will be, let us wish him the best. And the whole team the
best. When we argue, let us argue in the best way as not to disparage each
other or the team we support. if we are critical, let the criticism be
constructive. win or lose, let us all keep our dignity has members of Husker
Nation.
