Bob I have to disagree on the play calling. BC stated
at the start of the season that NU would take what the
defense gave them. To me that would mean playing to
their weakness. That would mean if a team couldnt stop
the run you would run the ball. If they couldnt stop
the pass you would pass the ball. Why would you ever
run any offense that would play into a defenses
strength? That just doesn't make any sense what so
ever. Even in Spurriers "fun and gun" offense if you
went up against the no.1 pass defense, yes you would
still pass, but you would have to try to establish
some form of running game or you will not win. 96'
Fiesta bowl ring a bell. I understand that he wanted
to get his offense established but the WCO is not
strictly a passing offense. Right? I think you were
one of the posters that stated that many times when
others were complaining about it being installed at
NU. Also you dont empty the backfield on third and 2
and not make the d at least think you might run. This
is just bad coaching.
