I don't know that the NCAA has officially acknowledged the possibility
of there being insufficient teams for the bowls yet, and according to
another poster (either on this list or another list), there may be
JUST ENOUGH bowl-eligible teams to go around after factoring out Clemson
and S. Carolina.  

For the non-BCS conferences, this could be the year they either prove
their case for equality or prove one for continuing inequality.  

Auburn is looking more and more like the BCS's odd man out this year.  
That may mean Oklahoma's and Auburn's opponents in the Big XII and SEC 
championship games will be just that much more grist for the BCS mill.  
(Attention Gary B:  How high can you count?)

But I also have to admit that consecutive split national championships 
would be poetic justice.
