[Husker] Interview

Frank's interview during the Iowa St game reminded me what a genuine good guy he was. I honestly didn't think his comments were self serving like most of the spin we hear from Lincoln today. Old fashion genuine versus new age spin. I like the coaches he hangs with too. Bob, Dan, and Barry A. versus Barnett and Pinkel. He has good taste.

I posted a month ago how Jamal Lord was asked during a pre-Alamo Bowl interview if he had anything to say to Coach Solich if he was listening. Jamal said I want to tell him I love him. I always have. THAT is what the Huskers used to be about. I still believe that is exactly what was missing this year and recent player comments confirm.

It is easy to criticize TO for his choice of successor but one thing about our old system of promoting from within is you had the time to really know the man you were handing the reins to. TO picked a good man. He knew what Frank was made of. Someone in his mold of coaching - i.e., "catch a player doing something right" approach. Positive reinforcement. The opposite of in your face.

It was good to hear Coach Solich yesterday.
