[Husker] Excited?

``As excited as I was the day that we hired coach Callahan, I'm more 
excited today,'' Pederson said Saturday.

I don't care how much he believes he made the right choice and thinks 
Callahan will (very soon) take Nebraska back to dominance, how can you 
look at the past season and be excited?  Excited that there is almost 
nowhere to go but up?  Excited that the expectations of the fans are 
now so low that a .500 season will seem like an improvement?  I 
honestly don't see much hope for NU until at least the 2007 season.  At 
this point, it would probably do more harm than good to go through 
another coaching search, but I also think that Pederson needs to admit 
that things didn't work out the way he expected.  Unless he fully 
expected NU to go 5-6 with no bowl appearance, in which case his speech 
announcing Solich's firing was nothing but a bald-faced lie.  Can't 
have it both ways, can you?
