You absolutely nailed it. Winning heals all ills. I know players
and instances of players that were very unsatisfied under TO and quit
but who cares? The winning was there so who needs you? I remember when
Dukes left pretty much all this list could do is chastise Dukes for
sounding off against the NU program (I know Dukes was under Solich).
Now players quit and sound off so it has to be the coaches don't know
how to meet the player's needs. The differnce? When Dukes left NU was
winning. Now they had a losing season. I would bet a lot of money that
if the Huskers had been 10-1 last year and these same players left and
said the same things we would either be criticizing the players or not
even think it is worth discussing.
I also think we sometimes forget the age of the players. They are
not seasoned veterans. By and large thay are emotionally, socially, and
mentally immature people. The only differences between these guys and
any other 19 year old is these guys can play football at a high level.
We have to also consider that teenagers and people in their very early
twenties sometimes do act and say things impulsively.
