I believe the problem was that the players were selling their
complimentary tickets and the NCAA suspended a bunch of players for a
game which the Huskers were able to stagger out through the season.
That's about all I've ever heard about any type of sanctions against the
Huskers.

Looks like there may be more fire amidst the smoke at The OSU.  Hope
this 
isn't the road NU is taking to get their highly touted recruiting class.
Does anyone remember if the Cornhuskers have ever had sanctions levied 
against them by the NCAA?  I have a vague memory of some troubles in the

late 80's(?) but don't think any official punishment was involved.
