I still think this is a story that can only get funnier as it progresses.

But on a serious level, could this be the thread that finally unravels 
the BCS and leads to a real playoff?  The Rose Bowl already seems to 
be teetering on the edge of pulling out of the pool.  I gather there
are a lot of traditionalists in Pasadena who aren't pleased that Texas
is coming there.  

Even a four team playoff would be an improvement, and an eight team 
playoff would pretty much eliminate any pretenders to the throne.
