This explanation seems more defensible, although I'm not sure about the
schedule inconsistencies with Wake Forest being the game that
"essentially replaced Houston. Still, it's one more even where SP
looks bad, leaves someone he dealt with a bad opinion, and alienates NU
fans and others. I've come to think that even if Callahan does the
very difficult job of bettering Solich's record, that won't be enough
to redeem SP as a popular leader of NU athletics. BTW, I received a
holiday card from the NU Athletic Department. There was a single
signature: "Steve". I'm thinking that's Steve Pederson, but I wondered
if he's using equipment that Rummy sent to inventory.
