[Husker] Birkel to Transfer

I think the other disconcerting thing is that if
Callahan felt that Andy Birkel wasn't a good fit for
the new program, then he should have helped him move
on and find a place better. That would be a win-win
situation for everyone. It frees up a scholarship for
Callahan, Birkel moves on and hopefully finds a place
better suited to his skills. And we avoid
yet-another-ugly incident in the transition.

Oh, and for the recruitniks who would like to point
out another "no-talent" Solich recruit, here's the
take on Andy from rivals.com:
Rivals rating: 3 stars.
Recruited by: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State,
Michigan, Wisconsin.
As a senior, he was 6'3", 180, with 4.41 speed, and
played both safety and receiver. (Here's a thought,
if WR is not in the cards, why not suggest that he
switch to defense. Isn't Coach Elmassian looking for
bigger guys in the secondary?)
Comparing him to the rest of the 2005 commits, on
paper he compares rather favorably to any of the other
WR or DB commits, with the possible exception of Leon
Jackson, who has 4 stars from rivals.com)

Just something to think about while you ink the 2005
signees into the starting lineup for the rumored game
at Houston.
