I have read the messages on this list for several years, choosing not to post for the majority of time. Having followed the messages closely, I have known Bob to readily admit when he has made a mistake. Furthermore, placing any one participant's message or messages under the "moral microscope" that you have created for Bob's message would require all of us to refer back to the definition of humility.

Also, I did not take Bob's message as being overly sanctimonious, especially considering the diverse cultural and age differences of the people on this list. Clearly, you cannot consider it to be morally offensive that a person actually go through their early twenties without breaking the law.

Despite the venomous tone of your personal attack on someone you presumably only know as a result of written posts a list dealing with sports, Bob is right on point with the general idea of his message. Division I athletes, especially Division I football players at a University historically known for football greatness, are under a microscope. Simply attributing criminal acts to the slogan "boys will be boys" shows a complete disregard and disrespect for the several thousand of Nebraska Football players who have both worked hard athletically and academically to earn their degree without having the "unfortunate bad luck" to be arrested for drinking under age or possessing drugs.

Personally, I think that any increase in moral and ethical responsibility would do our program, like all other programs, nothing but good.

Finally, regardless of whether or not I agree with Bob's posts, I respect the fact that he puts his name at the bottom of them.
