[Husker] Birkel to Transfer

I do not think that's justification for running a college program like
the NFL! Personally, and from experience, I too would have resented
hearing the references like the ones mentioned by Andy. It's still team
no matter who wants to go where. I know Andy's family. He comes from
good people. His brother is a part of our chapter in DC. I wish him all
the luck and success in the world. These are the losses that raise my
concern.
The NFLization of college football is bad enough today. Everyone talks
about tradition and how it should remain in granite. Welcome to the new
era....the NFL "minor" leagues!

For every kid who bemoans the NFL-type atmosphere at a school like
Nebraska you will find one kid who loves it. I'm glad Birkel has his
priorities in order, but he seems to forget that for some kids, their
priority is playing on Sunday, like it or not.

While the ugliness is discomforting, I think these are
all positive steps for everyone. I will be surprised
if these are the only changes; I expect a few more to
leave over the next month or so. While it's
unfortunate, I think it will only help everyone
succeed in the long run.
