Most on this list are being silent about Birkel, too.  It's just that those
who are not silent tend to be rather shrill about it.

The pattern that they appear to be following is:

Year 1:  Do what you can with what you have.
Year 2:  Weed out the unhappy, the ones who didn't perform, and the ones
         who don't fit.

Year 1 turned out to be, well, ugly.

Unfortunately, I still feel 2005 could make 2004 look like a good year.
