[Husker] QB's

Along the same lines, I don't think "Quarterback U" (Miami) ever had issues
with 10 good quarterbacks on its roster either. I for one hope there are 20
qbs on the Huskers Fall depth chart, that way I'm sure the odds would be
great that one would have to be better than the current starter!

Subject: [Husker] QB's

Greetings...

To me this sounds a lot like more complaining about Callahan for the sake of
complaining. First, I think we all realize that there are QBs on the roster
that were recruited to play the option and don't fit our current system.
That certainly might leave you with some wasted scholarships, but what is
Callahan really to do. With the players on the roster that fit our current
offense and the recruits coming in you could probably say that we have 4,
maybe 5 QB's on the roster regardless of what their position is listed as.

Second, who is to say what the magic number of QBs is anyway? Are USC fans
pissing and moaning that the 7 QBs on this year's roster slowed them down on
the way to the BCS Championship Game? Provided that Leinart stays like he
says he is going to, do you think they will complain that they are carrying
7 next year too? (2 x Sr, 1 x Jr, 2 x Soph & 2 x Incoming Frosh).

On the flip side, if OU has a bad year next year without White do you think
OU fans will be screaming that Stoops left the QB cupboard bare with only 4
on the roster this year and no current commitments? Provided that they are
left with no QB commits, which is doubtful, that would leave them starting
the season next year with a Sr, a RS Soph and a true Soph.

Let's just see how it plays out before we start making comparisons to Gerry
Faust and getting our scarlet and cream knickers all in a bunch over the
number of QBs potentially on the roster.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Volk
