I agree 100% - should there be consequenses, sure and there will be, but it should be the same as with the chemistry scholarship person or other campus inhabitant. If he does not live on campus and the event took place off campus, the University probably would not and could not be informed for a normal student.  We hear about the athletes very unproportionally.  With the laws on college campuses now about revealing information, a parent would even have a problem getting information about their child from an administrator, if the student said no.  I work on a college campus, and even here, athletes are held to a much higher level of scrutiny vs the same level of scholarship students across campus.  I believe recently a study came out showing athletes graduate and progress at higher levels than other students.
