[Husker] GI Senior High Football

All right, consider yourself corrected!  My brother played on the State
Championship team from GI in 1978.  After beating Lincoln Northeast and
Lincoln Southeast in the first two rounds of the playoffs, GI handled
Creighton Prep with surprising ease to win the state championship.  My
dad and I used to go up to the high school during the week, and Coach
Fischer would show the game films from the previous week's game and
comment on the play.  Your post is partially correct -- until that year,
I think GI had the distinction of being the only team that had made the
playoffs every year, but they had never won a game.

Another Husker connection -- I believe Frank Solich was the coach at the
time of Lincoln Southeast.  I could be wrong on that one, though.

I must respectfully disagree.

None of Ken Fischer's football teams won a Nebraska High School
Championship.  I grew up in GI and can't remember any of his teams
making it past the first rounds of the playoffs.

Please correct me if I've been misinformed, but I can't find it anywhere
on the web either.....
