Gill said he would evaluate and make a decision. This is the quote
from the story.

"Right now, I'm planning on [returning]," Gill said. "Like I've said,
I'll evaluate that after the football season and go from there."

"Right now, I'm planning on it." All that means is that he hadn't made
any concrete decision or plans to leave. He didn't say he wasn't
considering leaving. In fact, he said flat out that he was going to
evaluate his future plans and make a decision. "I'll evaluate that
after the football season and go from there." Evidently, he did just
what he said: evaluate and go from there. How does someone doing
exactly what they said they would do provoke questions and contrary
theories?
