Good point, it's an interesting contrast.  Seems like there are two
possible explanations:

1) Turner was considering leaving on or before Wednesday, but hadn't
   yet made up his mind and spoke as if he was planning on staying.

2) Turner was not considering leaving but was asked to in the
   interim, and was classy enough not to bring it up.

I'm assuming the first article was based on an interview--probably
solicited by the reporter.  If so, it would stand to reason that
the first possibility one is more likely.

Either way, Turner is one man I highly respect and I wish him the
very best.
