I was pretty amazed at this, since he had an out clause in his contract to
go to ND. By the way, he had more than a passing interest in the Nebraska
job, but one of the sticking points was he wanted an out clause to ND.

There was speculation that ND pulled the trigger on Willingham because they
were afraid Meyer might not be available after this year. I guess there is
more than one AD in the world that thinks he has someone ready to take the
job, only to find out that is not the case.
