I can verify that first-hand. I went to the Cotton Bowl January 1,
1974, when the Huskers took on, and beat, Texas. We had winter coats
and our matching red mittens that my mother knitted for all of us. It
was freezing! Add to that the fact that I, as a 7 year old kid, got
lost coming back from the concession stand and ended up missing all of
the third quarter, and it comes out a pretty memorable trip! As a side
note, we stayed in the Marriott Hotel, and ended up in the same hotel as
the Huskers, AND the Minnesota Vikings, who were in town for the NFC
Championship game. I still have a sheet of autographs with Tom Osborne,
Bob Devaney, Pat Summeral, Bud Grant, and others. Ahh, the memories!

Dallas also can't compete with Arzona, Florida or southern California,
in terms of weather. It can be pretty miserable there in January.
