I know you want to drive your point into the ground.
But.....it is also true that poor coaching can keep talented players from
winning such honors, and has. A personable coach on a team that's
struggling will go out of his way to try to earn influence for players on
his team that he thinks deserve honors despite the teams record.
I agree, this is definitely the chicken-and-egg argument.
