Last year's co-champs average about 10th in recruiting rankings for the four years leading up to the national titles. 1994 Nebraska averaged 18th and had two classes ranked worse than No. 20. The 1995 NU national championship team averaged 17.6 and had two more classes 20 or worse in the annual rankings.

As we all know, some highly ranked recruits bust (whether they get injured like Ryan Schuler, or just get beaten out like David Horne), while other non All Ams do very well in college (Aaron Taylor was a 2 * recruit, Mike Rucker & Tierre Green were not highly recruited, Joel Makovicka, Brian Shaw, Jared Tomich, Scott Shanle were all walk-ons.

It would be interesting to look at this years depth chart & see how the recruiting rankings judged the players in HS. Washington was highly recruited, Bullocks brothers were not, Ruud was not (but he committed so early to NU), the DL were all 3* recruits IIRC.
