<br>I just got Verizon FiOS (Fiber to the house), one of my requirements
was it had to work with the Aegis and TIVO.
<p>Just after installation the Aegis was unable to determine the line status,
and the TIVO would pick up the phone when any phone was taken off hock,
but would not return to on hook afterwards.
<p>It seem that both the Aegis and the TIVO monitor the line and the new
Fiber system did not supply the same view of the line.
<p>After convincing them it wasn't the alarm system (It was working fine
prior to the switch over) they started experimenting. what we found was
the the module in the old NID contains a circuit that allows the telco
company to test the line as well as provide some sort of impedance that
allows the TIVO and Aegis to determine the line status. Once we wired the
new line through the old NID module all seems fine now.
<p>It has been working for 3+ weeks without issue. They provide a UPS for
up to 4 hours of power outages.
<p>PS:The only issue I had with the installation was that they stated it
could be mounted in the garage, I opted for that option, but they never
wrote it on the work order. So we had to install it on the outside of the
garage even though all the wires and fiber come from inside the garage.
<p>O yes, the bandwidth is great, 5Mbps downstream, and 2Mbps upstream.
