We have a outside door sensor (magnet) that doesn?t work. A security friend of mine (retired) replaced the magnet, etc., but it still doesn?t work. He?s guessing there is a problem in the wiring somewhere and we?ll have to tone it out (when it gets cooler ? we?re in AZ ? yet I have an attic you can walk in and the wires are all mounted at chest level). Anyway, And, I haven?t been able to find anyone locally that works on an Omni Pro II system. So, I was wondering if this sounds like a broken wire or something else? I can Bypass it at the keypads (which then shows as bypassed in the Installer software that I?ve had for years). And, I can Restore it at the keypads, which then changes it to Secure. But, ether way in my copy of the installer software, it shows as secure. And, it doesn?t beep when you open the door. Any ideas from anyone? First, test the zone by shorting it out with 1k ohm resistor. If the zone shows closed, then it's good. Test the wire by shorting out one side and using your ohm meter see if you see the short on the other side. If the short is missing, it's defective wire. Lastly, check the contact by itself by hooking directly to it using your ohm meter. If the contact responds, then the contact is good. I live in AZ and your right, it's hot! Yup, this is the best advice, along with Denis?. Bottom line, it could be the magnetic switch in the door frame, the wiring, or the zone. The tests outlined below is the way to go to find out. I have an OT7 touchpanel that's worked well for many years. I was away for a few days and when I came back, the panel lit up but didn't register any presses for me to disable the alarm. I was able to disable it with the Snaplink app but not before the sirens started. In any case, I tried to fix the OT7 by power cycling the POE connection and now it gets stuck on connecting... for a few minutes and eventually the screen just turns off. The touchpanel appears to be working because when I press it, it lights up and gives the connecting... screen. I confirmed that the network connection at the touchpanel is good. And I know that the connection to the OmniPro is good because Snaplink works. I don't have another OT7 to replace it with. I have a regular style keypad upstairs, which continues to work fine, but I can't easily replace the OT7 with it for testing. What are my next troubleshooting steps? Any guidance? I assume replacement OT7s are no longer available, and the hole in the wall is too big for anything else. Thanks. - Dave -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
