Please advise Message-ID: Does anyone have a schematic for the HAI 1102 rev B Expansion enclosure board so I can troubleshoot the Battery Charging circuit? Batteries don't seem to charge properly on this one 1102.. On this panel, it reads just over 12 V.. All the other panels are 13.6 +- a bit... Normal charge voltage for a SLA battery. Also, the resistor overheat below. Whatever EE designed this did NOT do proper wattage calculations for this resistor... Does anyone know what value it is SUPPOSED to be? https://flic.kr/p/2gBdShN There's a N-Channel Mosfet also fried in the battery charging circuit. Wish I knew what the charging circuit looked like. Its a pain in the butt to trace foil traces and try to derive a schematic. Any advice appreciated. other commentary: Looks like when Leviton bought out HAI they just keep the high-volume products and dropped all the rest??? Sad!. Wonder what happened to the good HAI employees? As a product line, is Leviton doing any new development? Or, just going to rake in the meager profits and let the product line die? I REALLY love this HAI product line. I'm 20+ years on this.. 3 expansion enclosures.. I REALLY love this HAI product line. I'm 20+ years on this.. 3 expansion enclosures.. All sprinklers, drapes, lights and other misc things controlled via HAI panel. The HAI product line is basically dead. Lots of components are no longer available. It is very unfortunate that Leviton just acquired HAI and never did anything with it. https://www.stevesfanclub.com is a site run by a guy who works for Worthington (who were big fans of HAI) and has been posting occasional updates related to HAI availability. In this day and age of advanced system-on-a-chip computers (e.g. the Raspberry Pi), it is surprising to me that somebody hasn't come out with a next-generation security system with (100M!) ethernet connectivity. I look at the smart displays available from companies like 4D Systems (see, for example their 4.3" capacitive color touchscreen with bezel https://4dsystems.com.au/products/featured-products/gen4-ulcd-43dct-clb) and think "I bet those would make really nice consoles" (they even sell a version designed specifically for a single-gang electrical box: https://4dsystems.com.au/products/home-building-automation/4discovery-35 ) Then I think about this new security system having a real API and directly integrating in to the (fantastic, open-source) Home Assistant (https://www.home-assistant.io ) for automation and integration with everything else Home Assistant supports. I know about konnected.io and https://github.com/konnected-io/konnected-security and that's a decent start, but I want something more "polished" than that... something like Konnected, but with 16 zones as a base, wired ethernet and decent console options for easy usability by guests / family members. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Please advise In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: I can?t answer for the expansion enclosure schematic but I seriously doubt you will ever find schematic for any of the omni product line. Forget leviton to provide any kind of help beside you might try to give them a call, they used to do a flat rate repair fee on omni controller, you might be in luck to get your expension board fixed but I have a doubt... good luck with Leviton, they SUCK at supporting the HAI line. Leviton... I don?t understand why I company would buy a product line and ditch that line of products so badly as they are doing right now... the last update was in 2017, the leviton service is HORRIBLE, if you have an old board to be repaired, the service is terribly bad on top that we got charge custom duties for a REPAIR ! Leviton absolutely do NOT care about that product line. No developpement, no support what so ever on any more recent third party products, they don?t even support their own wifi lighting system. I wanted to get the updated omni II protocol to get configuration from a controller but Leviton REFUSE to let go that information. The mobile app is horrible and third party app developpers all abandon the platform (haiku, space). Now there is one app supported by vietnamese company for android but as soon they will ditch the support, we will be left in the dark with that beautiful (old indeed but rock solid) platform that is the omni line. I?ve done soooo many install with that omni controller, drapes and blinds, extensive multi-zone sprinklers control (over 500 line of code), gate and garage door openeners, lutron and HLC lighting, crestron lighting integration, audio control with xantech and russound, pool and spa temperature control, HVAC control (30 thermostats project !) and it NEVER fails. IF it does fail it is a programming error or cabling. Otherwhise, that controller is Always up and running. I am so disapointed to see that product going away. In the past, I had a PERFECT, QUICK, efficient support from HAI direct either for technical questions or repairs. Now, when I call leviton, the ? tech ? at the other end Always seem to be bored and can?t wait to get out of the office to get a beer... and it takes 30-40 minutes to get answer... these tech don?t know s#!t about omni product, they just take support manuals and read the proc?dures... I HATE it soo much that we are looking for antoher brand of controller unfortunately... Elk M1 gold maybe... at least they support a broader range of third party products and programming is similar to HAI with less powerfull integration than HAI though... It sucks to see that line die with absolutely no hint of future upgrade and/or support for third party devices. They ditch all HAI engineers (which are probably retired now) and that is it. Good luck with your repair, I sure do hope you?ll be able to fix your expension board. Please advise Message-ID: It's not unusual for a company to buy into a market only to ditch the product after they build out their own product line. Leviton is a slow moving, private, family owned company so it took them longer to dump the product they purchased. Intel does it all the time as do other tech companies.?Also, legacy product designs expire due to component obsolescence so they need to spend money for updates. They never did a bit of this so they probably rode the horse as long as they could.Next week we break ground on a new house and that has been planned for three years. I originally planned to use HAI stuff for the new house based on prior experience but now it looks like I'll go with Elk. I will dump the other Leviton products that were specified, such as outlets, smart switches, surge suppressors, etc while I'm at it. Who needs them. Sure glad I turned down the firmware dev job they offered me a few years ago. They were in the process of outsourcing a bunch of work overseas at the time.------ Original message------From: Claude .Date: Thu, Jul 18, 2019 4:06 PMTo: Andrew Ward;hai-users at tssi.com;Cc: Subject:Re: [Hai-users] HAI 1102 Expansion debug/schematic/help... We put in an Aegis when we built the house in 1996, then replaced it in 2003 when the first one was zapped by lightning, and replaced that with an Omnii II a few years ago when the Aegis failed. I'm hoping we can get another 15 or so years out of it before we have to find a replacement. Most of the newer systems seem to be wireless, which has mixed blessings. The main reason we went with the Aegis in the first place in 1996 was the voice capabiity, and I'm not sure what's out there that has that capability. Ours is a large house, over 7000 square feet on 3 floors with 7 exterior doors plus 2 doors into the garage area from outside, so having the doors announce when they're opened is very helpful, because you can be pretty far away from a door when it is opened. The interface between the Omni and our Vantage Home Automation system is also helpful, when doors open it triggers lights. Hopefully some company will decide that high end houses are a viable market. -- Mike Nolan From robert at surtees.com Thu Jul 18 21:21:07 2019 From: robert at surtees.com (Robert Surtees) Date: Thu, 18 Jul 2019 21:21:07 -0500 Subject: [Hai-users] Leviton is killing the HAI product line In-Reply-To: References: from "Eddy" at Jul 18, 2019 07:59:05 AM Message-ID: Similar story. Amp OnQ in 97 and somewhere along the line upgraded to Omni II. Drank all the kool-aide, thermostats and every switch in the house an ALC. It's all still hanging together for the most part. A few ALC's have bit the dust and one of the thermostats is a bit flakey, but otherwise still running the show. Not bad for twenty years. Looking for something to replace switches and panel eventually, but nothing floating the boat yet. Everything these days wants to phone home to corporate to run which isn't a feature I want to support. Especially not thrilled at the thought of being left with orphaned equipment when they shut off the servers. -Robert -----Original Message----- From: hai-users-bounces at tssi.com On Behalf Of Mike Nolan Sent: Thursday, July 18, 2019 8:31 PM To: Eddy Cc: hai-users at tssi.com Subject: Re: [Hai-users] Leviton is killing the HAI product line I'm sad (though not surprised) to hear that the Omni is not being supported.
