John,
Correct, you need to bring the Tstat back to the OP2 panel. I have had to
do this with multiple areas. They also say the ER Temp sensors don't work
with the expansion panels, but I find that they do, just not as a temp alarm
(but you can establish the alarm with a NOT READY and then program it as an
"ANY ALARM".

Subject: [Hai-users] Thermostat to expansion cabinet
I have a separate pole barn/shop with an expansion cabinet in it, hooks to
the OP2 with cat5 underground. I want to put an omnistat in the shop so I
can easily do programmed heat scenarios instead of just a simple mechanical
"relay" timing that works now.
I've scanned the manuals and I don't see that I can hook the communication
of an omnistat up to an expansion cabinet? I forgot that the omnistat does
NOT use the rs485 com A/B/Gnd for communication, but instead I think they
all hook to output 8 and input 16 or something like that. So then you give
multiple Tstats separate addresses, 1,2,3 etc...
but I was hoping to wire the Tstat direct to my remote expansion cabinet? Am
I missing something? Anyone doing this? I just don't see anything in the
books that shows I can do this. It appears to me I need to bring the Tstat
comm back all the way direct to the OP2?
John.
