[Hai-users] How to connect PC Access for the first time

I'm just thinking that the ONQ file is different some how than an HAI file.
If I remember right, you can't load the ONQ file into the HAI board.

I'm trying to connect with the old file.

Starting a new file is worth a try but if the old file can't be used it pretty much ruins the ability to keep a backup copy.

Ken,

Are you trying to connect with a brand new file or the old file from the ONQ.

Not sure it makes any difference, just a thought.

Subject: [Hai-users] How to connect PC Access for the first time

It's been 12 years since I installed our HAI/OnQ HMS1050 system. Recently the main board had a problem with seizing the phone line and HAI said it sounded like a board problem so I bought a new (used) replacement.

Prior to installing the new board I verified that the PC could communicate with the old board by starting PC-access and connecting locally. Web-Link also worked with the old board.

Now the replacement board is installed but I have been unable to connect to it with PC-Access so the programming can be downloaded. I have double checked that the serial port is connected the same as the old system (sort of hard to screw up).

The board was reset to factory defaults before purchase so it should be like bringing up a new board.

Installer and user codes have been entered into the system via security console and PC-Access is enabled.

I have tried all available baud rates (was 9600 on the old board which I think is the default) but the behavior is always that the "connecting" pop-up is displayed for a few seconds, then clears, but the icon in the lower-right continues saying "OFF LINE" when it should toggle to "ON LINE" and the menu functions that are usually enabled after a connection is established are still greyed out.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Ken Schumm
