[Hai-users] Replacing ALC switch with UPB

Hi Tom,

I've also had issues with the ALC. Pretty disappointing actually. With 60
or 70 switches in my own home I have a large percentage that no longer
communicate and I'm looking into replacement. Most failed one by one but I
later had some nearby lightning that took some out.

Is UPB the way to go? What are the pros/cons of the options (I have pretty
much every kind of alc - relay, high/low power dimmer, with and without 3
way, etc).

Thoughts?

Dan

The 2 remote switches are probably fine, they only generate contact closure.
All you should have to do is match the dip switch settings and replace the
switch.

I have a On-Q ALC relay switch that has died and a quick look at different
vendors tells me that this switch is discontinued and not readily available.
Unfortunately this switch also has two other remote switches that
communicate via low voltage cables. Is there any way to replace the
switches without fishing 120 volt cables between the switches?

I have an Omni Pro II controller that also handles UPB switches and I would
be open to using UPB switches. Or, what other options do I have?
