[Hai-users] Infinity by Carrier

I'm working on a solar house project here at the University of
Missouri-Rolla (http://solarhouse.umr.edu/). We are using HAI's Lumina
Pro controller.

Has anyone had any success connecting to an the Infinity by Carrier
thermostat? This is a proprietary thermostat, so it is the only one that
will work with our Carrier A/C unit. It seems there is a remote access
module to where you can call an 800 number or something and the commands
are sent by carrier to the thermostat via some third-party system. This
doesn't seem like a great option.

We have thought about taking advantage of the remote temp probe ports to
create a false temperature reading. I'd assume the remote temp probes
are RTDs. We could just put some large resistance in the port as a
normal. We could then put some small resistance into a relay and have an
output line open and close the relay as appropriate. Has anyone had any
luck doing something like this?
