Byron,

Over the years I have played with cameras, X10, IR etc. 802.XX cameras
worked the best, 900Mhz/2400Mhz/5k cameras get a lot of RF noise from my
experience. You can build a nice video security server (free) using a
program called Zoneminder. It's base install will let you use camera videos
to detect motion. It has the ability to also use X10 and xAP. I prefer
wired cameras to wireless. I am setting up (for a friend) a security video
system using the Panasonic 802.XX cameras (6 of them) and Zoneminder. Will
let you know how it works.

If you need to see anything at night, this cam won't do it.

I would like to use a cheap X-10 camera that's been lying in a box for years
to capture the picture of a local vandal or vandals. This is a Wireless
X-10 that needs AC power to work. (I'd need to have an electrician run AC,
for
starters.)

Has anyone found these reliable at all? For the effort, should I punt to a
more commercial quality camera and recorder?

Thanks in advance.
