[Hai-users] RS232 arming bug workaround?

I never use the ProLink (ASCII-based) protocol, but with the *OmniLink*
protocol you are able to arm with zones open, provided Force-Arming is
enabled. That wasn't always the case, because I remember trying it several
years ago and it didn't work. At that time (around 2001, give or take a
year) I called HAI's tech support and was told you couldn't force-arm via
RS-232. However, I've tried it recently and it *does* work.
I don't know when the change was implemented, but I've verified that panels
as old as 2.2 firmware will allow it.

Subject: [Hai-users] RS232 arming bug workaround?
As I understand it, there is a bug whereby you cannot arm an Omni (Pro II)
system via the serial prolink protocol if there are any zones not secured. I
want to replace my keypad at the door with a touchscreen, but this door
leads out through the garage. When I leave I like to arm and then shut the
garage overhead door on the way out, but the garage overhead door is a zone.
So using a touchscreen via RS232 I can't arm and leave. Anyone have ideas
for a workaround?
Thanks, Barry
