This past week I was away on a trip when the alarm went off. The police responded and my neighbor let them in to check things out. They found that the alarm was caused by a motion sensor that was going off intermittantly. When they checked the sensor, they stood and watched while a moth that had got into the house buzzed around the sensor and was setting it off! Removing the moth cleared up the problem and the alarm was reset with no further problems.
About two months ago I had another problem where a window sensor failed and set off the alarm. The alarm company can tell what has tripped the alarm, but they don't make any judgement calls; if the alarm goes off they call the police. So what I'm wondering is if there is any way that I can set up the system such that it takes a combination of sensors tripping to actually set off the alarm. Something like at least one external sensor (window, door or glass break sensor) PLUS at least one internal sensor (motion detector or an internal door) going off within five minutes of each other. This combination seems like it would be something that is unlikely to happen accidently and would give a much higher level of confidence that the alarm was legitimate. I went through the manuals when I got back this weekend but didn't see anything that indicated I could do this. Is something like this possible? If so, how would I go about it?
thanks,
Dave
