[Hai-users] Temp Sensor

I don't think trying it on Zone 1 is a good idea with a thermostat hooked
up. Don't use zone 1 through the number of thermostats hooked up or it will
conflict with the thermostat.

I seem to recall the problem Darren describes can be caused by an extended
range temperature sensor not being set as such. If this is an extended range
sensor, make sure it's set as an "ER Outdoor Temperature" (Type 85). Not
"Outdoor Temperature".

Please define "connect accordingly". For the record, yellow goes to the
zone + input, red to 12V+, and black to GND.

There should be no resistor on the temp sensor zone -- the panel's
configuration setting doesn't matter, and only applies to zones other than
fire (must always have EOL) or temp/humidity sensors (never use EOL).

If all that is correct, try the sensor on another zone (not zone 1), being
sure to change the Zone Type in the program. If it still doesn't work, the
sensor could be defective...

I am installing my outdoor HAI temperature sensor and believe I am missing a
step. This is what I have done:
    1. Ran 3 wire 18 gauge to the location of the sensor.
    2. Verified connectivity through each wire.
    3. Mount sensor and connect accordingly.
    4. Program Omni II for that zone (zone 15) to be an outdoor temperature
unit.
    5. Connect Omni II side wires according to diagram supplied with sender.
    6. Since it was not working, I verified I had 12v at the temperature
sensor. That was fine - proper polarity as well.
When I do a status check on the temperature it is always '0'. Since we
have been much warmer (and usually colder) then that it appears the unit is
not working properly. I was wondering if it was a resistor issue (my
resistors option is set to 'yes' and there was a resistor on this zone that
was previousily empty), but I have an RC-80 that I was able to get working
last year without incident (zone 16). Also. my RC80 does not report the
outdoor temperature (ie 0) and was wondering if something needs to be done
there as well.
    Looking for suggestions......
    Darren
