[Hai-users] power loss/restoration question

Yes, I've got two gel cells in the panel. I have plans to install a couple
of external lead-acid batteries with a charger and diodes to protect the
panel from back feeding too, but haven't implemented them yet. We have a
generator so when the power goes out the generator keeps us going. My
nightmare situation is what happened one Christmas when we were out of town
for a couple of weeks. The power went down at the house for six days during
that time. My plans for long outages are to use the external lead-acid
batteries to operate the panel for long periods of time and duty cycle the
generator to recharge them. With a 1000 gallon LP tank this should keep us
going for quite a while unattended. Right now the generator is manually
operated, but I'm building a controller to operate the generator and
transfer switch and interface it to the HAI panel.
